Destination Imagination GLOBALS!!

Our 2 wonderful boys competed at State Destination ImagiNation (click any link to learn more about DI) this last weekend (Saturday, April 14th).

And I'm proud to say...Eli's team took first place and is going to GLOBALS!!

Also, Caleb's team took 3rd place, so...THEY ARE GOING TO GLOBALS TOO!!!

It is May 23-26 in Knoxville, Tennessee!

So, as you can imagine, there is a lot of fundraising going on!  Especially since we are sending 2 kids!

We are just so excited for them & know that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.  It is the first time ANY Delta school has made it to Globals and Lincon has 2 teams going!!

It is a huge accomplishment, and we could use any help we can get to raise the money we need for these kids to go.  They have been working on their challenges since September and have advanced to this level through a LOT of hard work and dilligence!

We have set up a Donate button on the side of the blog, to make it easy for you to help us out.  You can pay with any credit/debit card through Paypal.  Any money donated will go straight to Caleb and Eli first.  Anything raised over what we need will be distributed to other kids on their teams!

Every little bit helps, even if it's just a couple of dollars.

Thanks so much for supporting our boys in this once in a lifetime opportunity!!

If you have any questions or would like to donate with a check or some other way please e-mail me at: tjmira@q.com

He's the Devil!

We've had a little bit of Drama in our house lately.

Kyla and Eli kind of got into it the other day.  This is how it went:

Kyla: "Eli you're the Devil!"
Eli: "Oh, you mean I'm devilishly handsome?" said with a huge grin on his face!

Good way to change the mood in the house Eli!

Disturbing!

My oldest boy is now in 5th grade which mean they have the big "maturation" presentation.

Caleb brought home a permission slip to attend and so I signed it knowing that Tony and I would talk to him before it happened so he wouldn't be so blindsided!:)

The note said it was supposed to be on Thursday, but when I picked Caleb up from school Wednesday he said that they had it that day instead.  So much for talking to him first!

Anyway, I asked him how it was and he said "It was disturbing", which made me giggle.  I told him Tony and I would talk to him and answer any questions he has later that night.

Well, we had  a busy night and weren't able to sit down and talk, but Tony was able to talk to him for just a few minutes before bedtime and he told me about their conversation.  It went something like this:

Tony: "So Caleb, how was your program today?"
Caleb: "It was kind of disturbing."
Tony: "What made it disturbing?"
Caleb: "They were all talking to us about our tenticles."

Tony got a chuckle out of that and talked to him a little bit about the "boy parts" and that he is not an octopus!:)

Oh, the joys of growing up!!!

I pity the fool!:)

I thought I'd better get down a few things that Rhett has said the last couple of weeks that have totally cracked me up before I forget about them.

We were eating breakfast the other day and treated our kids with orange juice (we don't have it very often).

Rhett took a big drink and then asked, "Mom, do I have orange lips?"

Me: "Nope."

Rhett, "Good, cause then I'd look like a fool!"

And...

We've let our kiddo's hang around in their pajamas most of the break unless we were planning on going somewhere.  So, Rhett had taken a bath and put on clean pajamas.  He slept in them that night, kept them on all day the next day, and then slept in them that next night as well.

On that second day Tony said to Rhett: "Rhett, you've been in those jammies for 2 days now!"

Rhett: "I know Dad.  Pretty cool huh?!"

And...

On Christmas morning we let our kid's look at their santa stuff and then open their gifts from Grandpa & Grandma Wilson (they sent up $ and we decided they were all in need of new Sunday clothes and since Christmas fell on Sunday it was perfect!) before we went to church.

As Rhett was opening one of his presents he pulled out his new white shirt and exclaims, "Awww...I don't like sunday shirts."

WHAT A CHARACTER!
